Self-immolative polymers: promising applications from degradable-on-demand materials
Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Canadian Centre for Alternatives to Animal Methods, University of Windsor
Dr. John Trant, born in 1984, obtained his B.Sc. in medicinal chemistry (2006, Dr. W. Ogilvie) and his Ph.D. in bioorganic chemistry (2012, Dr. Robert Ben) from the University of Ottawa. After postdoctoral work with Tomas Hudlicky (total synthesis, Brock University) and Elizabeth Gillies (materials science, Western), he joined the faculty of the University of Windsor in July 2016. His broad research interests include synthetic biology, materials science, total synthesis, and computational chemistry, his current research focuses on developing new chemistry for making innovative sustainable materials, especially peptides and carbohydrates, for health applications.
