Dr. Willerth holds a Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Victoria where she has dual appointments in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Division of Medical Sciences as an Associate Professor. Her research lab focuses on engineering neural tissue from stem cells. She has published 39 journal articles and her book “Engineering neural tissue from stem cells” was published by Academic Press in 2017. She currently serves as the President of the Canadian Biomaterials Society and on the steering committee for the B.C. Regenerative Medicine Initiative.
