Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, University of British Columbia
Vikramaditya G. Yadav is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Vice-Chair of the Biotechnology Division of the Chemical Institute of Canada. He received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and then went on to conduct post-doctoral research at Harvard University. He joined the faculty at UBC in the summer of 2014. At UBC, Dr. Yadav’s research group is pioneering the development of ‘biosynthonics’ – a novel paradigm for discovering and synthesizing potent bioactive molecules. The group also focuses on formulation and assembly of drugs and their translation to certain pathological conditions, and they recently embarked on the development of brain organoids for preclinical testing of anti-neurodegeneration drugs. Dr. Yadav has forged strong academic and industrial collaborations in each of these projects, and is currently working with 3 biotechnology companies in Vancouver to commercialize his research. He also serves on several administrative committees at the University of British Columbia, notably the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science’s Planning & Steering Committee for Bioengineering Education & Research, and is the Associate Director of ECOSCOPE, a Vancouver-based entrepreneurship hub for life scientists.
